Cross-sector action learning
Format used to wide acclaim in WIG’s leadership programmes, allowing delegates to examine real time leadership issues in – discussing current challenges with leaders from other sectors, drawing from their experience and different perspectives.
Development Seminars
One-day seminars to enhance management and leadership capability, showcasing leading-edge thinking and providing practical tools and solutions.
Insights
A 3-5 day programme designed to allow a senior manager from one sector to explore how another sector tackles specific organisational issues – such as diversity, knowledge management, corporate governance or talent management. ‘Organisational Raids’ deliver similar benefits for groups.
Learning Exchange Groups
Consecutive, facilitated sessions allowing a small group of fellow professionals to share learning and best practise.
Masterclass
A forum for senior delegates to challenge and debate strategic issues of the day with elite speakers from different sectors. Intentionally small gatherings where a high-level chair takes delegates through a series of three sessions over a two month period.
Mentoring
Bringing together leaders from different sectors to provide new perspectives, practical insights and constructive challenge to support individuals in achieving key personal and business goals
Networks
Programmes of topical briefings, workshops and social events drawing together fellow senior professionals from business and government:

Non-Executive appointments
Placements on department or agency management boards that provide government with different perspectives on corporate challenges and expose senior managers from other sectors to new perspectives and different business models, cultures and environments.
Organisational ‘Raids’
Groups of senior executives from one organisation obtain first-hand experience of another organisation's approach to specific issues they have in common. The delegates spend up to a day with the host exploring the chosen topic, allowing the host organisation to showcase their best practice, and gain some fresh and objective feedback
People Exchange
WIG’s name for a range of long and short term opportunities to give hands-on experience of another sector; includes attachments, secondments, insights, mentoring, non-executive placements either for individuals or for groups of managers via bespoke interchange programmes
Secondments
Full-time placements in another sector, typically for up to a year, allowing individuals and organisations to meet specific business needs through seconding in skills and experience, and individuals to meet personal development objectives.
Trustee roles
Placements as charity trustees for public or private sector candidates, providing the charity with expertise and insights, and the individual with board level experience, new perspectives and the opportunity to prove their skills in a new environment
WIG Leadership Programme (WLP)
6 month modular programme designed to let high potential managers improve their leadership effectiveness and realise their potential. Working in cross-sector action learning sets and exploring different approaches to leadership, WLP provides delegates with enhanced understanding of other organisations and sectors, new insights into their own leadership style and context, practical tools and enduring networks.
WIG Senior Leaders Programme (SLP)
1 year modular programme for senior leaders running organisations or key divisions/ functions within large organisations, using professionally facilitated cross-sector action learning sets to provide constructive challenge and support.
Workshops
Bring together senior practitioners from across business and government in half-day roundtable sessions, allowing a diverse range of perspectives to inform discussions:
- Best practice workshops - share best practice on topics and themes critical to improving government and business.
Consultation workshops
Half-day workshops enabling government departments to have an informal debate with a senior level audience from a range of business sectors about specific policy developments and draft regulation.
