25 years ago, WIG led the way with its first attachment schemes. Today we offer a flexible range of tailor-made programmes for business and government to gain practical insights into, and experience of, each other.
These programmes are all cross-sector and each scheme is unique: they can be full time or part time, and can range in length from one year secondments to bespoke one day insights into how another sector is tackling a specific issue.
What’s an ‘insight’ or 'raid'?
WIG’s ‘insights’ and ‘raids’ give individuals or groups of senior managers an insight into how an organisation, from another sector, tackles a particular business issue or operational challenge.
The focus is on sharing practical experience, with schemes arranged around such areas as:
- managing diversity
- knowledge, project or performance management
- employee engagement
- equality & diversity
- corporate governance
- risk management
- corporate social responsibility
Insights
‘Insight’ schemes are designed to meet individual objectives. Candidates will approach us with a request to explore how another organisation, from another sector, tackles a specific issue. We then trawl our membership for a host organisation exemplifying best practice, or leading edge thinking, in this area, and help pull together the framework for the two to five days ‘insight’. Because the focus is on professional issues, rather than job roles, the format allows both sides to gain from the others’ experience and perception.
Organisational Raids
WIG’s ‘raids’ are arranged to deliver a broader set of objectives. They maintain the focus on exploring how another organisation tackles a specific issue, but draw in a team of up to 20 managers, for up to a day. This might be a single team or department looking for in-depth discussion on their chosen topic - perhaps to feed into a particular project they’re working on - or they could be a group of managers from different teams across the organisation, approaching a common subject from different angles – such as a group of middle managers wishing to learn about customer service. Whatever the particular need, WIG will trawl its membership for a host with the relevant expertise, and help formulate a framework for the day which will allow both sides to benefit from the experience.
What’s on offer – WIG’s current opportunities
All of WIG’s exchanges are individually scoped, so if you can’t find the candidate or the opportunity you’re looking for listed here, please contact WIG or download the forms.
