Tony Mobbs, Defra Business Innovation/IBM, introduced the topic of Social Networking, detailing the theory behind social networks, networking and social analysis. Social networking is not a new phenomenon, he said, and its importance has been recognised for years. The networks help us stay informed, develop opinions, make decisions and accomplish work goals. A social network also provides an enduring infrastructure for knowledge, learning and innovation.
Dan Bailey, Senior IT Architect, IBM and Adrian Hollister, Client IT Architect, IBM joined Tony Mobbs to facilitate group workstreams focussing on the cultural dimensions, governance and technical aspects of social networking.
The session also featured a Market Place with demonstrations from IBM, Home Office, and Foreign and Commonwealth Office of
practical examples of how social networking is being used in their organisations.
WIG would like to thank IBM for hosting and chairing the event.
“Great presentation and the marketplace provided a unique opportunity to see IBM’s internal tools in action demonstrating their value. “
