HR & Lawyers Network: The Law of Talent Management

The Law of Talent Management was the subject of a joint WIG HR & Lawyers Network meeting on 29 May 2008. The event, which was attended by around 25 specialists from WIG's cross-sector membership, was hosted and chaired by Andrew Hodge, Partner, Wragge & Co.

A wide range of topics was covered during the session: succession planning, management development and reorganisation was the subject of the first session with presentations from Wragge & Co and Skandia UK who highlighted a number of potential solutions to the various legal and other pitfalls related to talent management.

The second session, directed by speakers from Wragge & Co and 100watt coaching, looked at coaching, feedback and working in teams, again with a number of proposals put forward on how to broaden the perspectives and experiences of relevant employees.

The final session, chaired by Wragge & Co, covered the use of intelligent incentives and examined ways in which to "modernise" the employment contract by not only including the wage: work bargain but also meeting the expectations of the modern generation of employee in terms of the work environment and work: life balance.

Following these presentations, there was a lively and constructive round table and panel discussion, giving delegates the opportunity to share their own experiences and seek advice from the network.

WIG would like to thank Wragge & Co for hosting the event.
