HR Network
WIG runs a unique cross-sector HR Network for senior HR representatives from WIG's member organisations. The Network enables the sharing of best practice on HR issues between business and government.

HR Network members also get the opportunity to join Learning Exchange Groups on strategic HR issues. In 2006, WIG ran a Learning Exchange Group on Human Capital Management for 8 HR Directors from across the public and private sectors. It was facilitated by Andrew Mayo, Professor of Human Capital Management at Middlesex University.
A new Learning Exchange Group on Talent Management started in June with delegates from British American Tobacco, Department for Transport, Department for Work and Pensions, Financial Ombudsman Service, Fujitsu Services, HM Treasury, Kent County Council, Office of Government Commerce and Reliance Security Group.
In addition WIG can
- Facilitate twinning arrangements between senior HR representatives from different sectors. Twinning, which forms part of WIG's mentoring programme, is usually at peer level and offers a practical framework for working together across sectors on shared challenges and issues.
- Arrange 'raids' between organisations which allow groups of HR managers to obtain quick, first-hand experience of another organisation's approach to specific HR issues they have in common.
- Offer people development opportunities through its leadership programmes, development seminars and non-executive placements.
