Privacy Policy

WIG takes your privacy very seriously. Unless you give WIG express permission to act otherwise, the following privacy policy will guide the way we treat the personal information you provide to us.

Our policy and principles

In connection with our activities, we collect personal data from individuals. The data we collect can range from name and contact information, including e-mail addresses, to cvs and application forms in connection with our people exchange activities. The principles upon which our policy is based and which we follow are as follows:

We only collect personal information which is relevant to the purpose required.

We shall never sell or rent your personal information to any third party.

We shall not disclose to or share with any third party your personal information without your express consent unless

  • it is necessary for us to do so in order to comply with the law or with police investigations; or
  • your consent may be implied from the nature of the reason for your supplying it to us.

If, as part of our activities, we do pass the information to a third party, we shall inform you when and to whom it has been or will be passed.

Information supplied to us for a particular purpose will not be supplied to a third party for another purpose unless you have given your consent.

We make every effort to keep secure any information supplied by you to us.

We shall not collect personal data from you unless you provide it voluntarily. Clearly, personal information is required to be kept if you wish us to correspond with you - the more contact addresses, phone numbers etc the better - but, if you prefer, you can limit the means of contact to one method.

We seek to keep our database of information up to date, but do rely on you to update us, as appropriate, when or if the data changes. This is particularly important in terms of contact details.

Our retention policy for personal data ensures that we only retain information for which we have a business requirement:

  • documents such as application forms, cvs etc are only retained for as long as we consider is necessary for the purpose for which they were supplied.
  • In order to keep our administration of events, development programmes etc at as high a level as possible, we may retain certain personal information. Examples would be dietary requirements and information about special needs to attend an event (e.g. hard of hearing, access to buildings).
  • We may retain information for historical record or statistical purposes
  • From time to time in the future, we may wish to contact you about events etc which we think would be of interest to you
  • At all times, you have the right
    • not to supply to us or
    • to request us to delete information you consider unnecessary for us to have or retain.
