WIG Cross-Sector Mentoring Award 2019: Winners Announced

WIG Cross-Sector Mentoring Award 2019: Winners Announced

The Whitehall & Industry Group recently launched its Cross-Sector Mentoring Award, offering two candidates from within our membership free access to WIG’s bespoke mentoring offer.

We are pleased to announce that the two beneficiaries for 2019 are Ian Arnot, Head of External Communications – UK Nations at BT Group and Sara Cannon, Analytics & Special Projects Manager at Mace.

Here is what one of our winners, Sara, had to say: "I am delighted to have been selected for the WIG cross-sector mentoring programme. Being partnered with a mentor presents not only a fantastic learning opportunity, but also the chance to work through my career challenges, with the benefit of my mentor's alternative perspective and experiences. I'm looking forward to starting this exciting journey and the possibilities for personal development it brings."

Meanwhile, Ian reflected on the breadth of the WIG network and the personal connections that can flourish from a mentoring relationship. He declared the following: "I was excited to hear I’d secured a position on the WIG mentoring programme given the strong interest in the opportunity across many organisations. The huge range of companies and groups in WIG’s network provides an unrivalled network of mentors to connect with. By taking advantage of the guidance and experience from a mentor working in another sector, I’m looking forward to helping to develop my own career and make new connections. Having had a mentor some years ago, I know how rewarding it can be both professionally and on a personal level. I became best friends with my last mentor and best man at his wedding!"
