WIG events during the pre-election period ('Purdah')
In the run-up to the UK General Election on 12 December 2019, the Civil Service enters into a period commonly known as ‘purdah’ in order to maintain a position of impartiality. This means all external communications are heavily reduced and there is no discussion around future policy.
This guidance applies to all UK civil servants, and the board members and staff of Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) and other arms’ length bodies.
The implication this will have on the WIG calendar of events is that some of our speakers will be unable to fulfil their originally scheduled speaking commitments if these fall within the pre-election period. For that reason, you may have noticed several events being postponed or cancelled. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our team is working hard to find new dates for the events which are affected and we will inform delegates as soon as possible once new arrangements are in place.
Take me to the current WIG events listing.
