WIG announces new cross-sector board appointments

We are delighted to announce four outstanding leaders joining the WIG Board of Trustees. 

 

Caroline Simpson, Group Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Transport for Greater Manchester and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, joins with deep experience in regional devolution, public service leadership and cross-sector collaboration. 

 

Professor Duncan Ivison, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester, brings an international perspective and a passion for building partnerships between universities, communities, industry and government. 

 

Michael Herron, CEO of UK&I at Atos Group, brings over 25 years of experience in digital services, AI and technology transformation across public sector and defence. Michael is also an alumnus of WIG's Exchange cross-sector leadership programme. 

 

Louise Beardmore, Chief Executive of United Utilities, brings extensive experience of infrastructure investment, regulated environments and transformational change. Louise leads a FTSE 100 company responsible for essential water and wastewater services across the region delivering over £16 billion of investment in the next 5 years. 

 

These appointments to our Board will strengthen our capacity to grow our impact and specifically support our strategic goals of increasing our work in regions and nations and support delivery of the industrial strategy through cross-sector collaboration.  

 

Rachel Sandby-Thomas CB, Chair of Trustees, said:
