Our Vision for the Council
WIG exists to foster understanding and collaboration across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors to support prosperity across the UK. To ensure our work remains relevant and impactful, we are establishing the WIG Membership Advisory Council. This Council will bring direct member insight to the WIG Board, providing invaluable feedback to help shape our strategic direction and enhance the value we deliver to our network.
Purpose:
As a member of the council, you will play a crucial role in shaping WIG’s membership offering:
-
Provide feedback on the development of our core offer: strategic dialogue, leadership capabilities, and evidencing ‘what works’ in cross-sector collaboration.
-
Give insight into the key opportunities and challenges members are facing in the short and long term.
-
Provide feedback on our current offer, ensuring we maintain our position as a safe space for dialogue and leadership development.
-
Increase member engagement and generate direct insight that the Board can use to inform its decision-making.
-
Develop champions for the WIG mission and create a potential pipeline for future WIG trustees.
Benefits of joining WIG advisory council:
-
Opportunity to help shape the WIG output, including but not limited to the calendar of events and content, leadership development programmes and ‘what works’ evidence stream to best address key cross-sector challenges.
-
Discuss with peers the most significant opportunities for collaboration across the public, private, higher education and NFP sector.
-
Build your network across the public, private and NFP sector, to get a 360-degree perspective on shared challenges.
-
Ensure your organisation is a thought leader in helping to shape cross-sector dialogue.
Responsibilities & Commitment
We respect there are time constraints from demanding schedules. The commitment is designed to be high impact but also yet time efficient:
-
Attend and actively participate in bi-annual 1.5-hour meetings, held virtually.
-
Agreement to support for minimum of 2 meetings across the year, with ability to serve for two terms (covering 4 meetings in 2 years).
-
Commitment and recognition that the advisory council is to be used to share cross-sector learnings, and challenges, and will not be used for commercial or lobbying purposes.
Member Requirements
We are seeking a diverse and representative council of senior leaders, and future leaders, from across our membership network. To be eligible, you must:
-
Be employed by a WIG member organisation.
-
Sit at C-suite / Director / Vice Provost level, OR a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience.
-
Have experience working across more than one sector.
-
Have demonstrable engagement with at least one part of the WIG offer within the last 24 months.
