Prof. Gideon Henderson

Professor Gideon Henderson is the Chief Scientific Advisor at Defra, and a Professor of Earth Sciences at the Department of Earth Sciences in the University of Oxford. He has also jointly held positions as Senior Research Fellow at University College, Oxford since 2012 and as Adjunct Associate Research Scientist at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University since 1999. In 2013 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. His research uses geochemistry to understand surface earth processes, particularly those relating to climate, the ocean, and the carbon cycle.
