Regional Workshop: Devolution & the West of England

In England, devolution is the transfer of power and funding from national to local government and offers greater freedoms and flexibilities to local authorities and their partners.  The intended outcomes are more effective and better targeted public services, local economic growth and stronger partnerships between the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Post Brexit, post General Election, will government remain committed to devolution and local decision-making?  Will government continue to believe that thriving and more productive cities and regions are vital elements of local economic development?

Speakers include Tom Walker, Director, Cities and Local Growth Unit BEIS/DCLG, Patricia Greer, Interim Chief Executive of the West of England Combined Authority, Professor Steve West CBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West of England and Anthony Arkle, Director of Government Affairs, Skanska UK.

Join us for a lively evening of discussion, contribute to the debate and continue the conversation over drinks and nibbles.

This event is being run in partnership with the Local Government Association.
