Joanna Crellin, Her Majesty's Trade Commissioner for Latin America and the Caribbean
Hear from Jo Crellin as she delivers an update on bilateral trade relations and opportunities between the UK and the countries within Latin America and the Caribbean.
The HM Trade Commissioner for Latin America and the Caribbean cooperates closely with the wider diplomatic network and other colleagues to coordinate the government effort overseas to promote UK trade and prosperity.
The Trade Commissioner has full responsibility for all Department for International Trade (DIT) work in Latin America and the Caribbean including:
- growing the overall bilateral trade and investment relationship
- improving market access for British companies, including small and medium sized businesses (SMEs)
- developing trade policy
Jo Crellin was appointed Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for Latin America and the Caribbean in April 2018.
Jo took office as British Consul-General in São Paulo, Brazil in February 2015 in her first post overseas. She is also the Director-General for the Department for International Trade (DIT) for Latin America.
She has worked for the UK government since 2001. Jo has occupied roles covering issues as diverse as nuclear decommissioning, social enterprise and corporate finance at:
- the former Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS)
- HM Treasury
