Mark Russell, Chief Executive, UK Government Investments
UK Government Investments (UKGI) is the UK Government’s centre of excellence in corporate finance and corporate governance. Mark will be speaking about how UKGI delivers corporate governance and corporate finance advice for its client departments across Whitehall. Mark will highlight UKGI’s recent successes, which include the sales of Royal Mail and Eurostar, the establishment of the British Business Bank, and advice to government during the steel crisis. Mark will also discuss how important diversity is to UKGI, both in its involvement in championing board-level diversity and in its own working practices.
About the speaker
Mark Russell was appointed Chief Executive of the Shareholder Executive (now UK Government Investments) in April 2013. Mark joined the Shareholder Executive as head of its Corporate Finance Practice in November 2004 and was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in April 2008.
Previously Mark was a partner in the corporate finance departments of KPMG London and KPMG Frankfurt. Prior to this Mark worked at PwC Corporate Finance and Robert Fleming & Co., Lazard Brothers and A.T. Kearney.
Mark is Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of London and Continental Railways Limited, Independent Non-Executive Director of DP World and was formerly Non-Executive Director of Eurostar International Limited.
