Networking: Electric Vehicles by 2035 - Achieving the UK's EV pledge
Please apply now to secure your spot on this networking forum. Sign up as usual using your WIG account, instructions to join will be sent out a week ahead of the session.
In November 2020 the UK government announced that it would ban the sale of new combustion engine vehicles by 2030, and new hybrid cars by 2035. Forming a part of a ten-point plan for a “green industrial revolution", the UK's pledge is among the most ambitious in the world.
While these commitments mount a tremendous challenge, there are also significant opportunities, from new jobs to regional growth, and a sustainable industrial sector in which the UK is already a world leader.
The Whitehall & Industry Group is delighted to invite you to join this virtual networking session. By joining, you will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities in this space with a cross-sector cohort of your peers, addressing issues such as:
- The cost of Electric Vehicle production, and the roll-out of charging infrastructure
- Settling consumer anxieties around charging, range and queuing
- Closing the gap between policy ambitions and current technological (battery) constraints
Please note this session will not be recorded, and will be conducted under the 'Chatham House' rule.
