Panel: The role of business in cracking the productivity challenge w/ Rannia Leontaridi OBE, Director, Business Growth at BEIS

In this lunchtime panel session you will hear how the public and private sector can collaborate to enhance productivity. You will hear from government, business, academia and the not for profit sector, and get insight into how they are addressing the productivity challenge.

The session will begin with an introduction from Rannia Leontaridi OBE, Director, Business Growth at BEIS. You will then hear a cross sector perspective in a panel discussion with:

  • Chris White, Director, Institute for Strategy, King’s College London- giving a brief overview of academic research which has been completed in the space, success stories (case studies) and where government can make an impact.
  • Dr Gareth Williams, Head of Plant Quality – Broughton/Filton, Airbus- giving an overview of what Airbus has done to address productivity, and what has proved successful.
  • Edward Berks, Director of Platform Business at Xero- speaking on how Xero helps businesses address productivity, and what has proved successful to date.
  • Emma Walker, Group Managing Director, Ashridge Group Ltd- Discussing the SME perspective on boosting productivity through an employee first strategy. A focus on the culture and values of Ashridge Group and engaging employees on the journey, plus investment in training and development and how this helps

About the Speaker:

As the Director for Business Growth, Rannia is the HM Government lead for enterprise policy, enabling UK businesses from all walks of life to start well, be productive, scale and grow.

Rannia is also Director, Office for Artificial Intelligence. The Office for Artificial Intelligence is a joint organisation between the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for Digital, Culture Media and Sport (DCMS). The Director is responsible for the Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge under the new UK Industrial Strategy: Putting the UK at the forefront of the Artificial Intelligence and data revolution.
