View from the Board - Lord Mark Price, Former Minister of State for Trade Policy and MD Waitrose

Lord Price, the former Managing Director of Waitrose, and Deputy Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, will share his experiences in the commercial world and thoughts on leadership. He will also touch upon his recent initiative, Alongside this, you will get insight into his time as Minister of State for Trade, and how he views the post-Brexit era.


About the speaker:

Businessman, writer and member of the House of Lords.

Lord Price started with The John Lewis Partnership after graduating and became a member of the Waitrose board in 1997. In 2005 he moved to join the John Lewis Partnership Board taking on responsibility for group strategy and IT as Development Director.

Mark was appointed MD of Waitrose in 2007 and the role of Deputy Chairman of the John Lewis Partnershipcard was added in 2013. In 2016 Lord Price retired from the John Lewis Partnership and was appointed Minister of State for Trade and Investment in February 2016 by the then Prime Minister the Rt Hon David Cameron. He was subsequently reappointed twice by the Rt Hon Theresa May PM as Minister of State for Trade Policy following the EU referendum. He stepped down from the government in September 2017 to pursue his writing and business interests.

He has been Chairman of Business in the Community and The Prince's Countryside Fund and sat as an NED and Deputy Chair of Channel 4 TV.

He was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the 2014 New Year's Honours and was appointed a Life Peer in February 2016.
