As we seek to recover from the Covid pandemic the future of retail banking will be critical. Ensuring policy makers, regulators and the private sector align to reflect changing consumer behaviour and demand will be key to enhancing the long-term sustainability of the sector. In this special session the Chief Executive of Barclays UK, Matt Hammerstein, will share insights into the current challenges and opportunities impacting the retail banking sector more broadly. Join the session to:
- Understand how the pandemic has accelerated some customer behaviours, and what this means for access to everyday banking services, including digital banking and physical branches
- Consider acute issues in retail banking like protecting cash for those who still need it
- Explore how the private sector and policymakers can work together to ensure vulnerable individuals aren’t ‘left behind’ by these broader shifts
