Before Oliver joined the Department for International Trade, he had been President at a FinTech start-up developing a capacity-based trading platform.  Between 2002 and 2013 Oliver worked as a civil servant, specialising in trade policy (in London and at the British Embassy in Washington DC) and corporate finance (including managing the government’s 100% shareholding in Post Office Limited). Having led the set-up of the UK Green Investment Bank, Oliver was a member of the Bank’s leadership team between 2013 and 2015. He started his career as a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
