Women's Seminar: Influence and Resilience
This seminar focuses on helping women become more influential and on building confidence and resilience to support them in their careers and lives.
To communicate with influence it is vital to engage both hearts and minds. This seminar provides a practical tool to help you understand others and so be better able to influence them. If people feel understood, they are more open to influence. The tool helps us understand and appreciate difference, without compromising who we are.
The use of energy, and conserving energy, is a theme of this seminar. That is the root of resilience. As women we may have many things draining our energy and affecting our resilience. During this seminar we explore how to retain resilience, to feel energised and optimistic, as we manage all the elements of our lives and work.

This seminar is designed and delivered by women, for women. The intention is to equip women leaders with resources to help them lead in challenging times. This seminar works as a stand-alone event and is also one of a series of four linked women’s seminars which complement and build upon each other. Through participating in these intensive events, women leaders will gain deeper insights into their strengths and talents and enhance the impact they have at work.
This seminar explores how you can become more influential. It also creates space for you to reflect on yourself and your energy. We will explore how to focus on what is important, letting go of things that no longer work for you and allocating more time to areas that give you energy rather than drain it. The aim is to build confidence and resilience to help you survive and thrive – at work and beyond.

Meet some of the team who work on this programme:
Hilary is Programme Director for the WIG Women's Leadership Programme. She also runs a series of women’s leadership seminars and a career management seminar. Hilary runs her own career, transition and leadership coaching business, Pathway Coaching. A highly qualified coach and facilitator with over 15 years’ experience working with leaders across the private, public and voluntary sectors, she is a member of the International Coach Federation. With a background in HR, she is also a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD. Challenging and pragmatic, Hilary uses powerful questions combined with a dash of creativity to help clients make successful transitions and achieve their goals. Her Pathway clients include the John Lewis partnership, Interflora and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Ruth Morris, Programmme Director
Ruth is CEO of Rema Consulting, a visiting lecturer at Cranfield and co-delivers the WIG Women's Leadership Programme. She specialises in leadership and team development, organisational change, executive coaching and action learning. Her experience covers a broad range of market sectors across different countries and continents. She has a Masters Degree in Management Development and has achieved international recognition for her writing on leadership issues. She is a respected coach, with 20 years’ experience of running her own business, and is known for transforming leaders’ effectiveness. Clients include: Hewlett Packard, Independent TV Companies, RBS, Jaguar Land Rover, ABN Amro, HM Revenue & Customs, and Ministry of Defence.
