Economic regional inequality has been a major challenge for the UK for a number of decades. Productivity and broader metrics of inter- and intra-regional disparities of wealth, health and other indicators of prosperity have impacted towns, cities, and localities in many ways. Addressing local and regional growth requires real cross-sector collaboration and partnership, building on the strength of ‘place’ and skills and attributes of specific areas, linking education, the private sector and government support.

Join this event to discover how the public, private, not-for-profit, and academic sectors can come together on priorities to develop UK cities and towns' future needs while supporting the economic growth agenda.

In this special roundtable we will discuss:

  • The role of devolution in supporting regional growth in England and how public, private and higher education institutions can work together under these new settlements
  • The role of the sectors in supporting productivity through specific place-based strategies, and specific government interventions
  • Where there needs to be more dialogue between public, private, not-for-profit and higher education sectors to support economic growth, what is working, what is not
