Flood Re
Flood Re is a unique company formed from an agreement between the insurance industry and UK Government. Our role is to ensure the affordability and availability of insurance for flood-risk households in the UK.
Climate change is making this mandate increasingly important, and complex because it is transforming the economics of providing natural catastrophe insurance. As a result, Flood Re is having to adapt.
We are looking at our operating model, and how we embed flood resilience across the insurance sector. But Flood Re’s model is one of partnership, and any changes we make will be considered in conjunction with the insurance sector and UK Government.
We are looking for additional resource to help us work with our stakeholders to consider how we respond to the challenges. In particular, we want to consider how Flood Re can foster innovation across the broader insurance industry.
A key part of this role will be looking at existing innovation models, such as NESTA and the Lloyd’s Innovation Lab and think about how we can apply the learning to Flood Re.
Ideal candidates will bring experience of working within government at the grade SEO/G7 level within the Civil Service.
They should be able to provide evidence of a strong track record in successfully engaging stakeholders, delivering public affairs campaigns and be a very strong communicator.
Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans to promote engagement between Flood RE, Government, and our insurance sector partners.
Develop positive relationships with key external and internal stakeholders.
Manage complex and sensitive engagement with different both Government and industry on complex financial topics
Facilitate and manage cross-sector meetings and working groups, ensuring alignment on shared goals, responsibilities, and timelines.
Identify opportunities for further collaboration between Flood Re, Government, and our insurance sector partners.
Review and evaluate the impact of innovation initiatives, using data and stakeholder input to refine approaches and improve outcomes.
Experienced with stakeholder management, ideally including political sensitivities.
Highly organised and able to bring people together, ideally with some project management experience.
Interested in company finances & financial policy would be an advantage. While this role will not be managing any of the financial modelling, it will require the holder to become conversant in how insurance works.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a must.
A demonstratable interest in innovation is highly beneficial.
