WIG is supporting the drive to improve public service commissioning to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of government and create innovative partnerships with the private and voluntary sectors.

We improve the skills of public sector leaders so their teams can design service provision, influence and collaborate with external parties as well as shape and manage markets.

We also help develop practical skills and judgement, offer access to the latest thinking and give confidence and courage to deliver radical change.

As founding members of the social enterprise Public Services Transformation Academy:

  • we run the highly rated Cabinet Office Commissioning Academy development programme for commissioners of public services
  • we offer our private and voluntary sector WIG members the opportunity to get involved in the Commissioning Academy programmes (speaking, hosting and sponsoring)
  • we offer tailored programmes to support the development of regional approaches to commissioning, following devolution deals
  • we provide support to organisations making the move to becoming commissioning organisations
