We provide a safe, trusted space for today’s and tomorrow’s leaders to engage in strategic dialogue, build collaborative leadership skills and networks, and exchange insights and best practices - all aimed at driving the UK’s long-term growth and prosperity.

For leaders across the UK—whether in government, business, not-for-profits or higher education—navigating uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity is part of everyday leadership. But tackling those shared challenges in today’s fast-changing and increasingly interconnected world can often feel overwhelming.

That’s where cross-sector collaboration comes in. By working across sectors and boundaries for the common good, leaders can unlock new ways of thinking, spark innovative solutions, and drive lasting, meaningful impact.

Yet, in our 2024 WIG Leadership Survey, while 92% of leaders identified cross-sector collaboration as key to economic growth, only 14% felt confident doing it, and just one-third believed they had the skills to make it happen.

Strategic dialogue

Strategic dialogue is the foundation for trust, collaboration and collective progress. Through our hybrid policy dialogue events and networking sessions— from exclusive policy briefings, senior roundtables and dinners to webinars, workshops, and reports—we provide a safe, trusted space for leaders and decision-makers from across the sectors to exchange insights, build meaningful relationships, and address shared policy challenges together.

Collaborative leadership capabilities

Collaboration requires more than intent—it requires skill. Our suite of leadership development programmes and masterclasses is designed for all career stages, helping leaders learn through action, exchange insights with peers from across sectors, and develop the confidence to lead through complexity. We also offer cross-sector secondments, bespoke mentoring and NED and trustee placements to enhance cross-sector experience and learning.

Evidencing best practice

Effective collaboration is built on evidence. At WIG, we work with our global and regional collaborators to benchmark successful cross-sector initiatives that drive meaningful impact. Through our in-depth knowledge products, case studies, leadership series, and organisational raids, we showcase what’s working—and what isn’t—across sectors. Our goal is to empower leaders with actionable insights to improve their own impact while driving progress across the system.
