Edge are also highly experienced in taking Civil Servants on secondment, having previously hosted seven Fast Stream candidates via the Charity Next programme. As such, they are very familiar with the usual concerns around potential conflicts of interest and the development of secondees within the framework of Civil Service competencies.

The Edge Foundation are looking to recruit a Communications Manager to join their team based in London (blended remote working is in currently in place). You will work closely with the Director of Communications. The successful candidate will direct on the day-to-day management and development of the website, updating their social media channels, and the planning and delivery of all their digital events and communications.

The right candidate will have experience in digital communications, excellent writing skills and an interest in media relations and education. You’ll need to be creative and used to thinking on your feet and juggling a range of tasks and priorities.

  • Delivering communications strategy
  • Planning, implementing and delivery of communications activity to support Edge mission
  • Pitching to media and finding opportunities to showcase Edge work and spokespeople on platforms relevant to key audiences
  • Plan and budget for events, campaigns, meetings, and network activities 
  • Drafting, commissioning, designing, editing, and reviewing a variety of content and marketing assets
  • Drafting announcements, press releases, and copy for all platforms
  • Protecting brand integrity and consistency of message
  • Measure and report results of PR campaigns, events, research reports social media and website activity.
  • Build long-term relationships with relevant stakeholders, such as government, media, partners, members of network, etc.
  • Support the growth of Education Communications Network
  • Support members of the extended marketing team (designers, writers, website)
  • Work closely with the wider Edge team to draft statements, briefings, scripts, and articles
  • Update social media and website as required
  • Deputise for Head of Communications as required.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to write compelling copy, blogs and press releases.
  • Experience of digital media including website CMS, social media platforms, newsletters, and analytics.
  • Inter-personal skills for developing relationships with media, handling difficult situations and advising people within the organisation.
  • Confident speaking and presenting.
  • Communication skills – you will need to able to deal with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous personal development 
  • Prior experience working in marketing and communications
