Net zero and sustainability

In December 2020, the Climate Change Committee published the UK's 6th Carbon Budget, advising ministers that to achieve net-zero by 2050, the UK will have to accomplish a 78% reduction in emissions between 1990 and 2035. Bringing forward the UK’s previous 80% target by nearly 15 years, this means that policy and regulatory frameworks will need to be put in place now to formulate a roadmap to net-zero.

As industry, government, academia and the NfP sector continue to collaborate on decarbonising the economy, WIG was delighted to partner with the UK Regulators Network to discuss the challenges and opportunities of establishing a robust pathway to net-zero.
